Why are we making this change?
Performance: PHP 8 brings several performance improvements, making your websites run faster and more efficiently.
Enhanced Security: PHP 8 includes the latest security patches, ensuring that our servers and your websites are better protected against potential threats.
New Features: By upgrading to PHP 8, you’ll be able to utilise the latest PHP features which can offer more robust and dynamic capabilities for your websites.
Software Longevity: PHP 7.4 reached its end-of-life phase. This means there will be no more security updates, fixes, or support available. It's crucial for us to stay ahead and ensure that our infrastructure is up-to-date, so you don't have to worry about it.
Starting 1 October 2023, we will be making PHP 8 the new default version on all our shared hosting servers and phasing out PHP 7.4.
What do you need to do?
While many websites and applications will transition seamlessly, we recommend testing your sites in a PHP 8 environment to ensure compatibility. If you run into any issues, our support team is here to help guide you through the transition.
